Ahoy! Welcome to Label Studio Newsletter #2. This is your once-monthly newsletter that contains all the relevant information from the community. It contains the latest on new product releases, blog posts, video tutorials, community content, and more!
You can always find the latest information before it hits this newsletter in the Label Studio Slack Community. If you haven't joined yet and you're reading this, you gotta be there!
So, without further ado… let’s talk Top 4 July happenings in our orbit…
#1: Written Blogs & Tutorials
Great content this month covering topics such as OCR with Tesseract, as well as more great Community Content from two different community members this time, one on the topic of leveraging Bayesian Active Learning (BaaL) with Label Studio, and another on the topic of using Label Studio with InfuseAI’s PrimeHub App.
If you’re training Optical Character Recognition (OCR) models with Tesseract, check out our tutorial on how to improve your models with Label Studio here:
A community member going by the handle of Cat Hong, who works for InfuseAI, has produced a Medium tutorial article about using Label Studio with PrimeHub App, check that out here:
And another community member, Applied Research Scientist at ServiceNow Frédéric Branchaud-Charron has produced an excellent NEW Tutorial on using Bayesian active learning (BaaL) with Label Studio that you've just got to check out if you have any interest in improving labeling efficiency by labeling only the most informative examples possible. Check it out here:
Frédéric and colleague Parmida Atighehchian will be interviewed by Heartex CEO next Thursday - more info on that and sign up are available if you read on.
If you’d like to, or already have, produced content useful to the Label Studio community such as tutorials, videos, examples etcetera, please let us know! You can DM me about your community content directly - we’d love to promote such content as much as we can!

#3: SWAG
We just produced our first “passel” (see #4: Fun Fact for definition) of SWAG for the Top 20 Most Active community members. It contains some special signifiers on the back indicating they were part of the very first run. Those members have already been informed.
But worry not if you missed out this time! We’re going to do more exclusive SWAG releases for our most valued Community Members - so help each other out, ask questions, answer questions, propose ideas, produce content and generally participate in the Label Studio Slack Community and you may very well make the next cut!
#4: Fun Fact
Another opossum fun fact this month. A group of opossums is called….. a passel. #thingsyoudidn’tneedtoknow
…and that’s it for Newsletter #2! As always, join our Label Studio Slack Community to discuss this and all other things Label Studio and ML Ops, and to submit your own content for inclusion in the next Newsletter.
Until then, happy labeling!
